About Match Kundli

Match Kundli is a free website for Vedic Kundli matching. You enter two sets of birth details and it returns the traditional Ashtakoot Guna Milan score out of 36, the score for each of the eight kootas, any Nadi or Bhakoot Dosha, and a Manglik check for each chart. Around that sit a Hindu calendar with each day’s tithi, nakshatra and sunrise, daily, weekly and monthly horoscopes, and plain-language guides that explain what every part of a report means.

How the site came about

The site began with daily sun-sign horoscopes. Kundli matching, the traditional check many Hindu families make before a marriage, became its main tool, and the calendar and guides were added to give the numbers some context. The aim has stayed the same: take one traditional method, apply its rules exactly as written, show the working, and be honest about what the result can and cannot tell you.

How the calculation works, in short

Planetary positions come from Swiss Ephemeris, an astronomical library widely used in astrology software, in the sidereal zodiac with the Lahiri ayanamsa that is standard in India. From each person’s birth date, time and place the tool finds the Moon’s sign, nakshatra and pada, the Ascendant and the position of Mars. The eight kootas are then scored with fixed tables: Varna 1 point, Vashya 2, Tara 3, Yoni 4, Graha Maitri 5, Gana 6, Bhakoot 7 and Nadi 8. Mangal Dosha is checked separately: a chart is marked Manglik when Mars falls in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house counted from the Ascendant.

Where the information comes from

• Planetary positions: Swiss Ephemeris, calculated on our own server, not copied from another site.
• The Ashtakoot rules: the classical tables for Varna, Gana, Nadi, Bhakoot and Tara, and the natural planetary friendships of Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra for Graha Maitri. Vashya and Yoni use a simplified three-tier form, explained in the guides.
• Birthplace lookup: OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim service turns a place name into coordinates.
• Festival dates: Drik Panchang’s New Delhi calendar, checked against this site’s own tithi calculation before a date is listed.

What it cannot do

Guna Milan is a traditional belief system. Nothing in it has been shown to predict how a marriage will go, and this site never claims otherwise. The result is only as good as the birth details entered, and an uncertain birth time can change the nakshatra and several kootas. Birth times are read as Indian Standard Time. The tool applies no cancellation rules for doshas, checks Mars only from the Ascendant, and leaves out the wider chart that an astrologer would also read. The Hindi text was prepared with the help of AI writing tools, so if a phrase reads wrongly, please tell us through the contact page. Editorial policy

Guides are written for this site, to explain the rules the calculator actually applies, and they say so where those rules differ from other published tables. Where a tradition varies, the guide says that it varies instead of picking a side silently. Some drafts are prepared with the help of AI writing tools. Nothing is published until a person has read it, checked its statements against the calculator and approved it, and each guide shows the date it was last updated.

We do not sell remedies, gemstones or consultations, and we do not use fear to hold attention.
